What are IO and Convergence LIMITS?:
IO and Convergence Limits is a feature on our THC's which allows the user to shorten IO and Convergence movement on the rig while having the full range of movement on the THC to reflect the new shorten movement on the rig.
Why would you set Limits?:
Let's say a very slow and steady IO move from 1.0 inch > 1.25 inch within a shot is required, a total move of 0.25 inches. Without setting Limits, moving IO 0.25 inches is barely requires any movement on the IO Slider or IO Wheel. Making this move slowly and steadily very difficult.
With LIMITS, users can set two points, a point at 1.0 and 1.25 inches. This will limit the IO travel to between these two points. Once LIMITS are set, moving the full range from beginning to end on the IO SLIDER or IO WHEEL will only move the IO on the rig, 0.25 inches.
Now with these LIMITS active, the user can achieve smoother and slower IO or Convergence moves.
What you will need:
- Rig w/ power
- Hand Controller (THC)
Process:
At this point, the Rig is powered on with a THC connected wired or wireless. These steps refer to setting both LIMITS for IO and CONVERGENCE.
Setting Limits:
- Position the Horizontal (Direct) camera to the 1st point of the desired move (either IO or Convergence)
- Locate the C LIMITS button (corresponds with CONVERGENCE WHEEL) or IO LIMITS button (corresponds with IO SLIDER or IO WHEEL) on the THC

- Press and HOLD the appropriate button. If done correctly, the corresponding LED will begin to flash
-While HOLDING down the button use the IO WHEEL/SLIDER or Convergence WHEEL to adjust the Horizontal camera to the 2nd point of the desired move
- Once the 2nd point is reached, RELEASE the button. If done correctly, the Limit will be set (either IO or Convergence). The corresponding LED on the THC will light up solid green
Disengaging Limits:
- Press either the IO or C button to disengage it's corresponding control. The corresponding solid green LED will turn off
NOTE: The THC will always remember the last limit set. So repeating the limit button press will either recall the last limit or go back to default. It will remain there until a new limit is set.
